Scully's Journal

Scully was born to be a teller of tales... the name itself comes from both the Gaelic title "Sceulaidhe" - a high-ranking storyteller of an Irish court, and "Scolaidhe" - a Scholar.

As it turned out, the ability to write saved my life in the masacre at Castle Dunluce... but that's a tale for another time.

This is where I will do my best to keep McDara up to date with relevant News and other information.

Opening Weekend - Fun in the Sun

posted May 14, 2013, 8:44 PM by Scully McQuillan

Opening weekend was a lot of FUN… and a little too much SUN for some.  Let’s hope that this is our ONLY weekend with triple digit heat!  It was so good to see everyone that could come out and play.  And in case you didn’t hear… there is a new Drum Corps this year.  Lead by none other than our very own Brandon!

LORE Make-up Classes: Saturday April 13 @ 9:30 am for registration; class begins at 10 am.

This just in: Due to the number of folk who couldn't make it to the LORE weekend, we have added one last opportunity to take the required classes for the 2013 Koroneburg season. Guest interaction will be from 10-11:30 am. We'll take a short break and run Costuming from 11:40-12:30ish.

An additional note, April 13 is the first day for early registration to get the early bird pricing for camping. But you MUST have taken your two required classes before you can register.

Please pass the word along to our participants who have not yet taken their classes.

This is very simple... Really.

To get a pass for 2013 you must have completed the following 4 classes:

1 - History of Renaissance Faire and Koroneburg
2 - Characterization 101 or Characterization 102
3 - Guest Interaction
4 - Costuming 101 or Costuming 102

The first two were a requirement to get a 2012 pass and have already been completed by most of McDara.

We Came we Saw... We Sawed?

It was good to see some of the guild together again...
A New Year and some new construction.
This season's projects center around the Kitchen.
Time for a new countertop... some new places for the coolers etc. There will be another small cabinet in the out-back for storing tools, and some shelving in the shower for keeping water bottles up and out of the way.
We may even find a way to keep pepper tree leaves out of our pancakes!
Some homes are getting bigger while others are getting better.
All in all, Progress!

Not much yet to report.  The main site for Koroneburg had begun updating participant documents.  If you want to get a jump on them you can find links at the bottom of the following page: http://renaissanceinfo.com/riverview/index.html

Once the documents are all together, I will post them to our site as well.

Build-Out Rescheduled Earlier! Now April 14th

posted Apr 11, 2012, 12:49 AM by Scully McQuillan   [ updated Apr 11, 2012, 12:52 AM ]

It may be understandably difficult to attend the recently rescheduled 2012 Build-Out now beginning April 14th in stead of April 21st.

However, this schedule change was necessary to accommodate Glen's Wake now scheduled for April 21st.

Please try to participate.

2012 Koroneburg Participant Documents

posted Mar 6, 2012, 6:01 PM by Scully McQuillan

Let's get our documents together before the Annual Meeting.  Either print them and fill them out, or fill them out online (it will not let you save the filled out form) and print them.

Which is better?  Your penmanship or your computer skills?

The Passing of "Laddie"

posted Jan 10, 2012, 2:38 PM by Scully McQuillan   [ updated Jan 11, 2012, 4:47 PM ]

The first week of 2012 saw the passing of Laddie – one of our clan’s more wooly members.
In a truly Irish fashion, he mourned the passing of his ewe “Speckles” to his grave.
These sheep are very popular players at Koroneburg, their absence was noticed by patrons every day during the 2011 run.
In addition, they are members of Richard and Corey’s extended family.  He will be missed.
